Tendulkar backs Bumrah amid Criticism

Batting icon Sachin Tendulkar has backed Jasprit Bumrah and in the process shut down his trolls who pointed fingers at Bumrah’s performance in the Test series against England. Playing three Tests, Bumrah finished with 14 wickets in the series.

Interestingly, India lost two of the Tests Bumrah played at Headingley and Lord’s and managed to draw the Manchester Test. Bumrah was rested from the second Test and the fifth Tests, both of which India won.

A lot has also been said about his workload management as well and whether it is right for him to play in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 tournament.

Tendulkar Backs Bumrah Amid Criticism

Meanwhile, Tendulkar, while responding to the criticism surrounding Jasprit Bumrah, said that it was just a mere coincidence that India lost the Test matches in which he played.

“I know people are discussing a number of things – jo Tests khela nahi, voh hum jeete (India won the Tests he didn’t play) and all that. To me that’s just a coincidence, to be honest,” Tendulkar said in a video at Reddit.

Sources close to the BCCI and the team management have also said that they are trying to identify a method for Bumrah to play selected games and in the process, take care of his body so that his international career can be extended. They have also refuted claims that it is not him picking and choosing games. This conclusion has been drawn after he returned from Australia with a severe back injury.

“This is not a case of workload management. There is injury management also in place. He had already undergone a lengthy rehab process in the lead-up to the 2023 World Cup. Ideally, everyone is working to not see a repeat because spending a long time in rehab in case of another injury won’t be easy on him,” sources had told this publication.

Tendulkar Praises Bumrah's Performance Against England

Sachin Tendulkar went onto praise Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in the Test series. He praised the pacer for picking up two fifers despite not playing all the Test matches.

“Bumrah started off really well, got five wickets in the first Test. He didn’t play the second but in the third and fourth again at Lord’s he got 5 wickets. So, out of 3 Tests he played, he has picked five wickets twice” Tendulkar praised Bumrah saying.
