India's next big international assignment is against England in a five-match Test series from June 20. Ahead of the big series, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their Test retirements.
The BCCI has now gotten itself in a fix and needs to address the issue ahead of making India's test squad for the series. Not only do they need to seek replacements for Kohli and Rohit, but also they need to announce the next Test skipper for Team India.
Former Indian cricketers have come up with their suggestions. Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah are the three names that have come up, with Gill being the favorite to become the next India Test captain.

Team India's Test Squad To Be Announced On May 24
There were previous reports that the BCCI might announce the Test squad on May 20. Now, as per a recent update by Sports Tak, the management is expected to announce the squad by May 24 via a press conference.
The much-awaited Test series starts with the first Test at Leeds from May 20-24. Edgbaston, Birmingham, hosts the second Test from July 2-6. The third Test will be played at Lord's from July 10-14. The fourth Test will be played in Manchester from July 23-27, followed by the fifth and final Test at The Oval from July 31-August 4.
The Test series kicks off the WTC 2025-27 campaign for both teams. Heading into this Test series, England are placed second in the ICC Test rankings and India are placed fourth.

BCCI Announced India A Squad For England Series
Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir will travel to England with the first set of Indian players on June 6. They will be playing a four-day warm-up match in Beckenham from June 13-16. Before the warm-up game, India A plays two first-class games in Canterbury and Northampton.
BCCI has already announced the India A side, with several players given an opportunity to prove themselves before the Test squad is announced. The side is led by Abhimanyu Easwaran.
