RCB announces financial support of INR 10 lakh each of the 11 families of the deceased

In a fitting gesture, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has announced each INR 10 lakh for the 11 families of the deceased who lost their lives in the team's victory celebration at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 04. For the unversed, RCB ended their 18-year wait and lifted the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season trophy for the first time by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

After the win, the Karnataka Government organized an open bus parade for the team, which was supposed to culminate at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The event was supposed to start at 3:30 PM. However, chaos broke out outside the iconic stadium as more than 2.5 lakh people thronged the stadium in and out to witness Rajat Patidar & Co. Despite police officials using the lathi charge, 11 people died on the spot due to stampede.

In an official statement on the X, RCB were deeply anguished by the tragic passing away of 11 people and as a mark of solidarity and respect, they decided to give INR 10 lakh each to the deceased families.

"The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased. In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident. Our fans will always remain at the heart of everything that we do. We remain united in grief."

RCB victory parade turns tragic, as 11 deaths occur

For the unversed, after hearing the death toll, RCB decided to cancel the open bus parade and strictly followed the instructions of the Karnataka police officials. Several RCB players like Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Mayank Agarwal expressed their disappointment at the tragic passing away of 11 lives. The majority of those were below 20 years old.

Apart from the RCB team, several former and current cricketers expressed their anguish by the Tweets. Virat Kohli-powered RCB was hoping for a grand welcome from one of the most loyal fan bases in sporting history, but the event ended on a sour note.
