Cricket will come back in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, as has been previously reported. Cricket will make an appearance in the Olympics for the first time since 1900.
The sport will make a comeback after 128 years, with as many as six teams allowed to participate in the Olympics. After the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, cricket will be part of the Brisbane Olympics in 2032 as well.
The matches will be played in the T20I format. Six teams are competing in both the men’s and women’s categories. As many as 90 players will be allowed to participate in the event, with as many as 15 members in every squad.

Meanwhile, in a massive decision taken, the age regulations and the qualification process for the sport will be decided in the upcoming Annual Conference Meeting by the ICC between July 17-20 in Singapore.
The ICC will be announcing a cut-off age for the players to participate in the Olympics. As of now, players should be above 15 years of age to participate in the glorious event. While India will be one of the teams to participate, it is unlikely that Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the breakout superstar, might miss out on playing in the tournament.
The bigger problem is the selection criteria for the six teams. As of now both men's and women's teams will be allowed to participate; this is an established fact. One of the suggestions was to go ahead with the ICC rankings of the top teams. India lead the rankings, followed by Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and West Indies in men's T20Is. The women's rankings also have the same teams in different positions.

Upcoming Meeting To Be Chaired By Sanjog Gupta And Jay Shah
The age criteria was a suggestion thrown in by the Chief Executives' Committee (CEC) after the suggestion was thrown in by the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC). The CEC meeting will be held on July 18. It will be the first ICC meeting to be chaired by Sanjog Gupta, the newly-appointed CEO of the ICC. The upcoming Annual Conference will be the first major meeting that will be chaired by Jay Shah, who was elected as the chairman in December last year.
