Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill rarely loses his cool, as he comes across as one of the cool and composed captains. However, a strange incident occurred during the Titans' match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season on Friday, May 02. Gill was seen having a heated conversation with the on-field umpires over a controversial DRS call.
The incident panned out during GT's innings when Gill was ruled out following a close call at the striker's end in the 13th over. The skipper, who up until that point was batting like a dream, was adjudged out by the third umpire. Later, live visuals showed that the 26-year-old was extremely disappointed with the verdict and straightaway went up to the umpires to vent his frustration. Now, the GT skipper has opened up about the heated verbal exchange with the match officials.

"There was a little bit of discussion with me and umpire," Gill said after the match. "Sometimes there are so many emotions involved. As you give your 110 percent, there are bound to be some emotions."

Fortunately, Shubman Gill's run-out did not cost GT the match, as they won the game by 38 runs. The skipper himself played a starring role, as he scored a classy 76 runs. He was well supported by Jos Buttler's blistering 64 runs. On account of the duo's valuable knocks, GT ended up posting 224 for the loss of six wickets.
In reply, SRH started well, with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head getting the team off to a good start. However, the latter's wicket tilted the game in GT's favor. On account of this thumping win, GT has jumped to second position in the IPL 2025 points table.
