Punjab Kings (PBKS) scored 157 runs in the first innings of the 37th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on April 20.
This was the second meeting between the two teams in just 48 hours, following PBKS's five-wicket victory over RCB in a rain-curtailed match in Bengaluru on April 18.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and elected to bowl. PBKS started off their innings in an attacking fashion with their openers Priyansh Arya (22 runs off 15 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh (33 runs off 17 balls) dominating from the word go.Â

The Kings scored 41 runs in their first four overs. However, RCB made an astounding comeback. Krunal Pandya struck on the second ball of his spell in the fifth over, dismissing Arya.Â
It did not affect Prabhsimran and Shreyas Iyer (6 runs off 10 balls) as they smashed a six and four in the sixth over off Josh Hazlewood. Krunal again contributed with a wicket as the left-arm spinner sent dangerous Prabhsimran packing.
Krunal then took a remarkable catch off Romario Shepherd’s bowling to bring an end to Iyer’s innings. In a brain-fade moment, Nehal Wadhera (5 runs off 6 balls) got run-out in the ninth over. Wadhera wanted a two but Josh Inglis (29 runs off 17 balls) did not even leave his crease, resulting in the former’s run-out.Â
Inglis formed a mini 36-run partnership for the fifth wicket along with Shashank Singh (31 runs off 33 balls). The Aussie was the aggressor of the two and kept hitting boundaries to help Punjab gain back control. But Suyash Sharma provided a timely wicket to RCB as he cleaned up Inglis in the 14th over.

Marcus Stoinis (1 run off 2 balls) was bowled through the gate in the same over by Suyash as PBKS were reduced to 114/6.
Shashank and Marco Jansen (25 runs off 20 balls) tried to push PBKS to a respectable total, dealing mostly in singles. Only two boundaries came in the last seven overs, including one on the final ball of the innings.
PBKS scored just 46 runs in the final 42 deliveries, eventually ending their innings at 157 runs for the loss of six wickets.
