Defending just 164 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pace bowlers were on point as they dismissed three Delhi Capitals (DC) batters in the power play in the ongoing match 24 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up two wickets, and put a stranglehold on DC's top-order batters.
It all started with DC losing Faf du Plessis for just (2) runs of the bowling off Yash Dayal. From that first wicket, DC could not recover and lost Jake Fraser-McGurk (7) and Abhishek Porel (7) runs. These three wickets put DC on the back foot, as the surface at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium is a bit two-paced. For DC, only KL Rahul looked solid at the crease.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar's three overs in the power play, was the turning point. The veteran gave just 14 runs and enabled DC could not run away in the run chase of 164 runs in the power play. Axar Patel, who of late has shown good form with bat, also perished for (15) runs, as RCB leg spinner Suyash Sharma struck.
KL Rahul key for DC as RCB well placed to win their first home game in IPL 2025 season
KL Rahul knows the conditions at M Chinnaswamy pretty well as he plays for Karnataka in domestic tournaments. If DC has to take this chase deep, then the right-hand batter has to play the anchor role. DC have a lot of power hitters to come, the likes of Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, and Vipraj Nigam.
