The BCCI's decision to shift the venue for the IPL 2025 final from Kolkata to Ahmedabad has sparked a war of words between two ruling parties of West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress and the BJP.
West Bengal Sports Minister Aroop Biswas on Thursday accused the BJP of playing cheap politics and blamed them for the change of the IPL 2025 final venue. He further said that the BCCI has denied the cricket lovers of Bengal an opportunity to witness the IPL 2025 final.
The BCCI on Monday, announced the shift of IPL 2025 final venue from Kolkata to Ahmedabad. Kolkata and Hyderabad were the previous chosen venues for the IPL 2025 playoffs with KKR and SRH playing the IPL 2024 final.

Bengal Sports Minister Arup Biswas Blasts BCCI For Moving IPL 2025 Final Out Of Kolkata
Alongside Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma by his side, Biswas refused claims of law and order or any weather-related issue to be the reason behind the final being taken away from the city.
“100 per cent matches in Kolkata have been played without a single incident,” said Biswas.
The Kolkata Police Commissioner further claimed that so far in the seven games in the city no incident has been reported so far in the games that have been played. In the process, he hinted that law and order cannot be the reason behind the city denied the IPL final.
“A total of nine matches were scheduled to be played in Kolkata. As Commissioner of Police, I am here to say that seven matches have been played here so far, and no incident has been reported. These matches witnessed 60,000 plus footfall" he said.
The Bengal Sports Minister further, in a tweet, questioned whether it was the BCCI or the BJP the real reason behind taking the final away from Kolkata.
“The BCCI is claiming that the likely weather condition in Kolkata on the day of the final match was the reason behind the decision. On the other hand, a senior BJP leader claimed that the venue was shifted due to security reasons. Who is correct?” Biswas said while speaking to the media persons.
“Now they have deprived the sports lovers of West Bengal as well. I do not know when BCCI became a weather expert. In reality, the BJP is jealous of the Chief Minister and the development activities going on in West Bengal under her leadership,” he further said.
