Due to the penalty, the Mumbai Indians were forced to place only four fielders outside the inner circle during the last over, with 15 runs needed to win. The match, threatened by rain, went down to the last ball, but the Gujarat Titans managed to snatch victory, putting an end to the Mumbai Indians’ winning streak and denying them their seventh consecutive victory at the Wankhede Stadium.

Speaking about the defeat, MI’s skipper expressed his dissatisfaction with the no-balls bowled in the final over. However, he praised his team for defending a below-par total against a strong Gujarat Titans batting lineup. He said, "I think we fought really well and kept pushing as a group.
It wasn’t a 150 wicket; we fell short by about 25 runs. Credit goes to the bowlers for their effort throughout the innings. Dropped catches can hurt you, but fortunately, today’s drops didn’t cost us much. I’m really happy with the boys giving their 120 percent on the field and not giving up."

Ashish Nehra was fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL code of conduct. He admitted to the Level 1 offense under Article 2.20, which concerns conduct contrary to the spirit of the game, and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.
