Veteran Australian spinner has had his say on the drawn fifth Test in Manchester between India and England. The fifth Test ended in a draw after India batted for 143 overs to save the Test match.
The pitch eased out for batting, starting with England’s first innings. The hosts posted a mammoth score of 669 runs in their first-innings batting effort.
It eased out further when India started batting for their second innings. Chris Woakes took two wickets in his first over and since then it was hard work for the rest of the bowlers who bowled 143 overs in total.

You Want To See Competition Between Bat And Ball - Nathan Lyon On Manchester Track
India posted 425 runs for four wickets and eventually took a lead over England in their second innings. Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar truck centuries, pointing at the pitch getting better with every shot they played. India had two massive partnerships of 188 and 203 runs as they kept the England bowlers at bay.
Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon took a dig at the Manchester pitch, saying that pitch conditions in Australia are a lot better and cricket fans in general do not like what they saw in Manchester.
“The conditions over here (in Australia), it’s always been a great competition between bat and ball and that’s the way Australia’s produced wickets like that. So it’s going to be challenging for their batters and challenging for our batters. That’s the way cricket should be, you want to see competition between bat and ball. “I think that’s crucial, and all the fans, that’s what they want to see, they don’t really want to watch what happened over in Manchester last week,” he said.

Lyon Expects England Batters To Attack Him In The Ashes
The veteran Australian spinner further spoke about the upcoming Ashes series, saying that he expects the England batters to attack him in the series.
“I totally expect them to come out and attack me. I think every touring team says they’re going to come and attack the spinner, so I’m pretty used to that now. Guys trying to attack me bring me into the game. So I’m looking forward to that. I’ve got some plans, and I’m already writing down a few things I want to try to put in play and work on. That’s England and the way they’re playing their cricket, so it’s amazing theatre and something I love viewing,” Lyon said at a Melbourne Renegades sponsor event in Melbourne.
