Australian captain and Mitchell Starc’s wife, Alyssa Healy, has expressed her desire to see Indian captain Rohit Sharma participate in the Big Bash League (BBL) to inspire upcoming cricketers in Australia.
Healy shared her thoughts during an episode of the Willow Talk podcast, stating that having Rohit Sharma in the BBL could enhance the league's appeal and motivate young players to pursue cricket in the future.

While she is optimistic about the idea, Healy understands that it may not happen anytime soon. She also mentioned MS Dhoni, who is currently playing in the IPL despite retiring from international cricket in 2019.
Healy noted,
"I hope one day we can attract some of these guys. Imagine someone like Rohit Sharma coming down to play in the BBL. He might keep playing forever, like MS Dhoni. The amount of support they receive back home would only benefit our competition. So maybe one day."
She also addressed potential concerns, saying,
"Would having these star players take a spot from a local player? Or could it help young players develop? I think if they are willing to share their knowledge and experiences, it would be incredibly valuable."
According to BCCI regulations, players are not allowed to participate in foreign leagues unless they announce their retirement from all formats of cricket. Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni could potentially play in the BBL if they end their IPL contracts and officially retire.

Recently, Dinesh Karthik participated in the SA20 league with Paarl Royals after announcing his retirement from the IPL last year while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Although Healy's vision is inspiring, it may take time to materialize, with Karthik being one of the first players to join a foreign league.
