Pakistani cricketer Saud Shakeel has sparked a wave of amusement with a cheeky remark aimed at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) during a recent interview. The 29-year-old batter, known for his composure on the field, showcased his wit off it, delivering a one-liner that left the anchor in fits of laughter and set social media abuzz.
Shakeel was asked what changes he would make if he were the PCB chairman. In reply, the left-hander poked fun at Pakistan playing musical chairs with their coaching staff, saying that he would ensure that he appointed a coach no-one could remove for three years.
"First of all, if I become the chairman, I would bring a head coach, who can not be removed by anyone even if I get dismissed from the chairmanship but he would remain the head coach for three years," said Shakeel as quoted to Geo News.

Pakistan's Constant Coaching Staff Reshuffle
The quip lands amid a chaotic spell for the PCB, which has seen its coaching roster resemble a revolving door. Interim coach Aaqib Javed recently disclosed that the board shuffled through 16 coaches and 26 selectors in just two years.
The instability hit new lows with the resignations of high-profile figures like Mickey Arthur before the 2023 T20 World Cup, Mohammad Hafeez after a brief stint, and, more recently, Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, who both stepped down citing frustrations with the board’s direction.

Pakistan Hit New Lows
Pakistan’s on-field woes have only sharpened the spotlight on the PCB. The team crashed out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, held on home turf, without a group-stage win.
A tri-series defeat to South Africa and New Zealand, followed by ongoing losses in the ODI and T20I series against the Kiwis has fueled discontent. Shakeel himself was axed from the white-ball squads for the New Zealand tour, lending extra weight to his sly commentary.
After losing the T20I series to New Zealand, Pakistan has also lost the first two ODI matches, giving the Black Caps an unassailable lead of 2-0. The third ODI will be played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on April 5.
