The BCCI has finally confirmed the venues for New Zealand's tour of India in January 2026. The two sides will be playing a three-match ODI series followed by a five-match T20I series.
India and New Zealand will face off each other for the first time since playing each other in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final. The Men in Blue are the current Champions Trophy holders and also the current T20 World Cup champions.
The ODI series will see the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after the senior duo announced their Test retirements recently. Both retired from T20 cricket after the 2024 T20 World Cup.

The series starts with a three-match ODI series on January 11, 14 and 18, respectively. The first ODI will be played in Vadodara that sees the return of ODI cricket after a long gap of 15 years. Rajkot and Indore host the second and the third ODI matches.
The five-match T20I series will be played between January 21-31. Nagpur, Raipur, Guwahati, Vizag and Trivandrum are the venues for the five matches. The BCCI has decided to host matches at venues that do not hold matches in international cricket on a regular basis.
BCCI has always maintained to take the game to all corners of the country where international matches are not played regularly. None of the matches against the Kiwis will be played at any of the high-profile venues.

India To Co-Host T20 World Cup 2026
The five-match T20I series against the Kiwis will serve as a dress rehearsal for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. India are the co-hosts of the ICC event along with Sri Lanka.
The Kiwis will be playing another T20 series against Afghanistan ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 immediately after the India tour. As mentioned above, India are the defending champions of the T20 World Cup 2024.
